Introduction to keeping Bees

A one day introduction to beekeeping course aimed at those who have no previous knowledge. Who think they would like to keep bees or those who are just interested.

Topics to be covered include:

  • The colony and the bees role
  • What type of hive
  • Where to keep your bees
  • How to examine a colony
  • Diseases of bees and remedies
  • Swarm prevention
  • Extracting honey
  • What books to read
  • Beekeeping suppliers
  • What next?

Held at various venues. Including The Study Hut at Sandringham in Norfolk and Thringstone community Centre in Leicestershire.

The dates for this year are.
December 4th at Sandringham. 10.00 - 4.00 (lunch at about 1.00).

Dates for next year have yet to be decided but will include.

Introduction days at both Sandringham and at Thringstone in April or early May.
Followed by basic handling of bees at both venues.

Handling courses can also be held in Guildford Surrey.
